I HAD PUT IN 30 YEARS OF SERVICES IN ROTARY : MORE THAN WHAT I HAD IN THE ARMY :

1. It has been a Great & Memorable Day for me i.e. 17th May 2023. I was given an standing ovation when I entered the venue of today’s weekly Rotary Club meeting at the Cosmopolitan Club Baridhara. Traditionally / routinely it takes place at 1730 hrs every where in the world.
2. It was 1993, I was made to be present in Hotel Purbani to become a ‘Charter Member’ of the newly founded Rotary Club of Sonargaon. It has been a ‘Flick’ and 30 years have passed by. I found Rotary is a Great Organisation – a Huge platform if you want to dedicate yourself for the cause of the downtrodden in the Society.
3. Though, I wasn’t very active and never stood for a position in the club like President, Vice President etc etc – yet I was a ‘Strong Silent’ member behind the mainline of the club. I was also a Paul Haris Fellow (PHF) – this is a Honour given to the members who pays certain extra amount of cash to become as such.
4. Today, I was fondly remembering Mr. Anis A. Khan a Vetern Banker of the country (I love him very much) who introduced me to the vast world of Rotary (rotary.org, rcsonargaondhaka.org) Incidentally we both belonged to one of the Premier Institutions of the country by the name Faujdarhat Cadet College. We were in the same House. When he had joined in the year 1967, I had started shaving my little grown beard every morning with pride & enthusiasm.
5. Please pray for him. He had a total right hip replacement surgery at Singapore General Hospital last March 2023 and is now recuperating at home
