RECOGNITION AND TRIBUTE TO LATE GP CAPTAIN TAHER QUDDUS-ON HIS 10 TH DEATH ANNIVERSARY :

THE FATHER OF THE PRIVATE SECURITY SERVICES IN BANGLADESH :
HE DESERVES NATIONAL RECOGNITION :
1. We whole heartedly pray for the salvation of the departed soul of the “Father of Private Security Services” in Bangladesh. Group Captain Taher Quddus (Retd) was an ICON in the Private Security Services of Bangladesh. In fact, he was the ‘Pioneer’ of the Private Security Services in Bangladesh.
2. Today the Security Industry has created job opportunity for 8lac + rural youths. This is in addition to creation of thousands of employment opportunities for the Ex Armed Force,Police, BGB & Ansars personnels – the Sector has offered/contributed. Remaining mostly “Unsung“ we have been making a ‘HUGE’ contribution in supplementing the efforts of the law enforcing agencies in the country, whose budgets runs into Crores & Crores of Takas.
3. The Cash Carrying Operations (CIT)was introduced solely by Securex, his company in the country. Thousands & thousands of ATM’s are now operated by some of the top the Security Companies in the country. Carrying Cash for the financial institutions i.e. Bank / Branches throughout the Country is a very very tough and exhaustive assignment & surely will affect in a very big way if the Security Companies seizes to operate for any reasons.
4. The Private Security Companies are contributing in a BIG way with their meagre resources, but it is going through a ‘Precarious’ time in Bangladesh. Very – Very Low Wage (Can you imagine the National Wage Board has recently set as low as Tk. 9,100.00 + per guard monthly salary, where as a Rickshaw Puller earns between Tk. 20,000.00 to 25,000.00 monthly). Some giant banks & some telecom operators, you will be surprised to know that they pay as less as Tk 6000/00 per month ( Equivalent to US$ 55/00 ) for a guard. ‘Incredible’ an amount which is earned in 3-4 hours time in an advance country.
5. Mushroom growth of Companies 800+ now, and they are waging a price war amongst themselves to cut each other ; NO bargaining power, has reduced the Industry to a ‘Low Esteem Business’ & socially disregarded as an enterprise. High Turn Over, Less of Training; Difficulties in collections of Outstanding Dues are some of our other ‘Griping’ problems in the Industry.
6. Group Captain Taher Quddus (Retd) was one of the most amiable persons I had ever known in my life. Always forthcoming and rendering perfect advices when ever I approached him. Meanwhile 10 years have passed – We feel the ‘Void’ of Group Captain Taher Quddus (Retd) every moment. He was required to be around to guide us for a better future, amidst many difficulties in running a very difficult Industry.
7. RECOGNITION AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT : Indeed he deserves ‘National Recognition’ for his “Outstanding” & single handed contributions to the Industry & the Country as a whole. No exaggerations ! Security Company Association should take initiative in this respect with out any prejudice or biases !
