HE WAS SELECTED FOR THE 48TH PMA (PAKISTAN MILITARY ACADEMY) LC IN 1971.
WOULD YOU BELIEVE THAT TWO OF THEM TRAVELLED UPTO ABBOTTABAD, PMA, KAKUL TO JOIN THE COURSE:
BUT BEFORE ENTERING THE FAMOUS PMA GATE THEY DECIDED TO FLY BACK HOME – FOR A REASON(CAUSE) NEVER TOLD EARLIER UNTIL HE TOLD ME RECENTLY.
1. A “Great Story & Epic Tale” of two young boys of 19 +- years of age. Long story – They flew back home and joined the Liberation War of 71. Later on Maj Hakim joined the 1st BMA, (BANGLADESH MILITARY ACADEMY) Short Course – a Historic course, the first ever commissioned in the BMA, Comilla. They passed out in the year Jan 1975. All young lads, quite a number of them also joined the Liberation War.
2. Later in the year 1977 both Maj Hakim & myself served together in the BMA-Bhatiary. We grew as comrades strengthening and tightening the knots of friendship over the years. Life has almost passed for us. Both of us once young & energetic officers of our beloved Army, are now old pals.
3. Today (Recently) we had met at the Army Graveyard while joining the ‘Dafan’ of Maj Gulzer A. Chowdhury for 44th PMA LC. Gulzer happened to be my classmate from Faujdarhat Cadet College 9th Batch. (1962-68). Hakim said he and Gulzer both the family performed Hajj in the year 2008 & had cherished the Holy journey.
4. After the ‘Dafan’ Hakim told me to drop him at any point between Gulshan 1/2 or Mohakhali. He said he would then get a Motorcycle Ride (Riders of Dhaka) to his residence at Indira Road. Well hearing this I just said a big ‘NO’ to myself. Rather I ‘Shuddered’ with fear visualising a fall of the Freedom Fighter from the Bike. I ensured that, he avails a ride by an airconditioned vehicle provided by the Elite Force. I could not just leave the ‘Old Soldier’ go away uncared like this.
5. In the meanwhile, he told me some fantastic stories about his son who turned out to be someone dwelling most of his time in the Deep Jungle of Sundarban – a Freelance Journalist working with the Bandits and Robbers in the wilderness of the thick jungle.
6. Meanwhile I had sometime to take him around to see for himself the “Caricatures of Elite Force”. He was amazed to see our versatile activities, particularly the K9 Dog Squad was simply facilitating to him. He said he will write a story about me “The most Incredible Brigadier General of the Bangladesh Army”. (I was pampering him profusely, so that he really writes something “Fabulous” about me).
7. Maj Hakim now lives in far Nagaon town in the quietness & serenity from the ‘Hustle & Bustle’ of the city life in Dhaka.
